
LAB SERVICES
Did you know that QFH has our own on-site lab?
Patients can have all of their orders drawn here, at one convenient location. In addition to tests ordered by QFH, we can also draw any labs requested by your PCP or other outside doctors. In fact, we offer our lab services by appointment to the general public! So even if you are not a QFH patient, you may bring your outside doctor’s lab slip and any lab kit(s), and we are happy to complete the order. This can be especially handy for QFH patients who have children or other family members also needing lab services, but who are perhaps not patients at our practice. Unlike some larger facilities, our lab offers timely appointments with little to no waiting.
Rachel, our phlebotomist, will make you feel right at home, having expertise with small children as well as being adept with those who–whether physically or emotionally– may find blood draws challenging.
Our lab fee ranges between $55-$82, depending upon the complexity, and is paid directly to QFH. The cost of test processing is paid to the specific lab where your samples will be sent–Quest, LabCorp, Access, etc. In many cases, your insurance will cover standard testing. Please be sure to have your insurance card with you as well as your payment of choice for out of network labs and our lab draw fee. We always provide a superbill with ICD coding so that patients can submit their claims.
The QFH lab is open by appointment on Mondays and Wednesdays between 8:30 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.

LAB FAQs
- IF I AM FASTING, CAN I DRINK WATER?
Yes! Please, drink plenty of water the day before your draw and the morning of. Not only is water essential for good health, but being properly hydrated will make your blood draw procedure much easier for both you and your lab tech.
- DO YOU BILL INSURANCE?
It depends. Some of the labs Quinn Family Health utilizes will accept insurance, others will not. We recommend that you call your insurance company to find out which labs are considered “in network” (e.g. Quest vs LabCorp). We are happy to send your insurance information along with your bloodwork, however QFH cannot guarantee coverage.
- DOES QUINN FAMILY HEALTH CHARGE FOR BLOOD DRAWS?
Yes, we do. For most QFH patients, the charge is $55. This covers the cost of the blood draw supplies, processing, shipping and the venipuncture itself. For more complicated orders (3+ lab companies at one time or complex processing), challenging blood draws, or for non-QFH patients the blood draw fee is $82.
- CAN I BRING LABS FROM OTHER PROVIDERS TO QFH TO BE DRAWN?
You sure can! We routinely use both Quest and LabCorp. Please note: it is the patient’s responsibility to make sure the associated lab is in network with their insurance.
- CAN I USE THE LAB AT QUINN FAMILY HEALTH IF I AM NOT A PATIENT THERE?
Yes, you can. An appointment is required, so please call the office to schedule your blood draw. It is the patient’s responsibility to bring any and all kits/orders with you to your appointment. On the day of your appointment, you will be asked to sign a blood draw consent form, and payment will be collected. Please be prepared to pay via check or credit card. Please note: QFH will not receive the results of bloodwork ordered by an outside physician. Results are reported directly to the ordering provider.
- WHAT ARE YOUR LAB HOURS?
The lab technician is available most Mondays and Wednesdays from 8:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
- HOW WILL I RECEIVE MY RESULTS?
QFH patients: Results will be shared to your portal once they are reviewed by your doctor. Please note that results cannot be shared over the phone by anyone other than the doctor.
Non QFH patients: Please contact the ordering physician.
- I’M A NEW PATIENT. CAN THE DOCTOR ORDER LABS BEFORE MY FIRST APPOINTMENT?
Due to provider ethics and regulations, no. The doctors cannot order labs before establishing care.
- CAN I BRING PREVIOUS LAB RESULTS TO MY APPOINTMENT WITH ME?
Yes! If you are able, please upload your prior results to our patient portal prior to your appointment for your doctor to review. Alternatively, you can bring the results with you on your appointment day and we will upload them for you.
- I HAVE MEDICARE, WILL MY LABS BE COVERED IF THEY ARE ORDERED BY A NATUROPATH?
Unfortunately, no. Medicare does not cover labs ordered by an N.D. We do have a low-cost, out-of-pocket lab option for our patients on Medicare, however, so please inquire.
